Taking good care of two essential parts of your car

Friday, December 25th, 2009

One thing is certain about cars in our society, we need them. Many people in different places can’t really survive without a car. Yes there are buses but in this very busy life that makes it difficult.  Because cars are so important to our lives it makes sense to know how to care for them.  So we are going to look at two major parts of our car that always need to be maintained.

The first part that is so important to a car is the engine. This is comparative to the car’s heart. It will die or stop working if you don’t take good care of this part of your car. So in my San Marcos auto repair service I make sure my customers know how important this part is.But it is painless also to take good care of. If a person will just perform a regular tune ups and change oils he will keep his car in very good shape.

Next car part that is essential is the transmission. In being able to drive your car this is critical. If your transmission breaks down so does any use of your car.  In my Carlsbad auto repair shop I see so many broken down transmissions. Most of the failures could have been avoided. The main way to do that is to ensure the supply of enough fluids at all times.Plus to ensure that changing gears are done gently and at a complete stop always.

Taking good care of your car’s transmission and engine isn’t that difficult as you can see.All it takes is a commitment to ensure to take care for that specific part of your car.  I tell all of my clients of my shop that doing a little maintenance now will save them a lot of money later. Those who are willing to do that end up having cars lasting a very long time without any problems. Those who don’t end up with cars that have to bring in many times due to problems.

Tips in maintaining older cars

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

People are seeing to it that their things will last for a long time especially with the kind of economy that we are in right now. Gone are the days when people would just replace old things with new things. That includes cars nowadays. You have to maintain your cars regularly to ensure that they will last for a long time.Because not doing so will result to them breaking down.So here are some advice on maintaining your car’s life.

First of all one of the biggest mistakes clients of my San Diego auto repair shop do is not change their oil regularly. What people don’t realize is that oil is like the blood of your car.Without its oil the car can’t survive and run.And not replenishing its supply will affect the condition of the car.In the long run, this can remove some years off your car’s life.  If you want your car to last longer change your oil often.

Next thing you want to do is make sure you do regular tune ups.An engine that is not functioning well would be the resut of not doing regular tune-ups. What happens when you have older cars that don’t run well is failed smog tests.  In my San Diego smog check shop most of the cars that fail were cars that didn’t do regular tune ups.  It is something simple but can have a big impact on the life fo your car.

Lastly, you should take care of your brakes.  In my San Diego brake service business I try to let my clients know how important it is to care for your brakes.  This is one part of your car you don’t want to fail.  Plus it is very expensive to replace ruined brakes.Always see to it that your brake fluid levels are always filled. Plus be easy on your brakes.  Don’t do sudden stops but always prepare for your stops.

Doing these things can ensure the longevity of the life of your cars.

Evidences of a transmission problem

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

The transmission is one of the most expensive parts of a car to be repaired. In general like most of your car they are built well.  But it can be easily broken and very expensive to fix.  So you want to always maintain your transmission. So let us now look into some signs of a transmission problem.

First signs of problems with the transmission is usually the fluids. You can check for signs of a problem by checking your fluid levels using a dipstick. If you notice that the fluid level is always low then that might be a sign of a leak.  If the fluid is dark or has a burnt smell that is a sure sign of problems.Always check the fluids of your car to make sure that there won’t be any major damage in the transmission of your car. If you find any of these signs take it into a auto repair shop.  I catch a lot of transmission problems early in my San Marcos transmission repair shop with these signs alone.

Another sign of transmission problems is when you have a delay when you shift it into drive. If you shift it and it does not get into gear immediately then that’s a sign of a problem. That problem is called as the delay of engagement. This could be caused by a worn out transmission or another problem. I have all my clients take it into my San Marcos auto repair shop anytime they get the delayed engagement problem.

Finally when you are driving the vehicle if shifting of gears is jerky there is a problem.  All shifting should be smooth with no slipping. If your car jerks everytime you shift gear then that would be a sure sign of a worn out transmission. I catch a lot of problems early in my Carlsbad transmission repair shop when this happens.By detecting problems earlier, a customer can save more money instead of spending it on repairs.
